Now Leasing

2011

In this area space is not scarce. It seems there is endless room for expansion. New commercial spaces go up with little thought. As businesses close or move to newly built properties, old spaces are often abandoned. Big box stores litter the landscape with the shells of dead retailers. Each lot tells three stories: the past of open doors and full lots, the present depressed economy unable to support countless retail ventures, and a picture for the future emerges where this land can be repurposed. The available lots are easily passed by, an insignificant part of the landscape. After dark though, these places pull me into their empty cavities. Here enveloped in perpetual light I observe land seeking a purpose.
